OAC: Understanding Your Weight Loss Options

New Resource for Weight Loss Sanity from OAC

Sorting out weight loss options in January can bury you with an insane assortment of dubious options. The Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) has just published a new resource to help sort the good from the bad, with an eye toward achieving healthy weight for the long term.

OAC recruited the nation’s leading experts on obesity, excess weight, and weight management to write Understanding Your Weight-loss Options. The 40-page brochure offers readers the most up-to-date information on safe and effective weight-loss options for individuals wanting to address their weight and improve their health. OAC Board Member and ConscienHealth founder, Ted Kyle, served on the team that wrote and edited the brochure.

“Researching weight-loss options can be a difficult task for anyone battling excess weight or obesity. There is so much information out there, yet a majority of the information can be misleading and lack objectivity. This brochure provides an accurate look at various weight-loss options,” says Pam Davis, OAC Chairman.

“Understanding Your Weight-loss Options” is an excellent resource for anyone regardless of where they may be in their weight-loss journey. The brochure covers a vast array of weight-loss options such as behavior modification, physician-supervised weight-loss, bariatric surgery, and more.

“The OAC receives hundreds of phone calls and emails on a weekly basis from people wanting to learn more about weight-loss and improving their health. The difficult part of answering these questions is that weight-loss is very individualistic and what works for one person may not work for someone else. With this brochure, we now have something educational to offer individuals that will help them best identify which weight-loss option may work for them,” said Joe Nadglowski, OAC President and CEO.

In addition to information on weight-loss options, the brochure also offers a body mass index chart, full color illustrations of the most commonly performed bariatric surgeries, tools to develop your weight-loss goals and, much more.

“We wanted to create something that wouldn’t simply be another brochure telling people to ‘eat less and move more.’ Weight-loss is more complicated than that. This brochure carefully examines each weight-loss option, their effectiveness, expected weight-loss and more,” said Robert Kushner, OAC Board Member and Chair of the OAC Education Committee.
